Are they not really just the same thing in essence with one obvious exception... A video camera.

I mean, it boils down to people getting paid for sex in both instances only porno gets filmed and the whole world gets to see it.

Rob Black, porn director, says to Louis that if you pay a girl to give a blowjob - that's prostitution - but put a camera there and record it? ... it's legal... and better yet, you can sell the video tape.

    Usa usa usa usa :pac:

I guess the people in porn are better looked after, with health checks and everything but I'd agree its basically prostituting yourself. I used to know a guy who was in gay porn movies and he said that they had to have injections to keep things um, up. And although they were all tested for HIV/AIDS you still had to take a course of medication afterwards that is supposed to reduce your chances of getting it if you were exposed to it.

    I theory, yes.

It's the practical side of prostitution that's the real problem - slavery, human trafficking, drug abuse, violence, disease, etc.

You get people making up bull**** "moral" arguments about both but the points above are the real problems.

There's nothing wrong with someone selling sex for money.

    yes it's the same..

I think the same laws for porn, should be brought in for prostitution and make the damn thing legal.
If people want to sell/pay it, let them..

Set places for it, to make sure it's all done safely. etc

Absolutely. I mean, when is the government gonna realise that regulation of these "illegal" activities is actually good not only for society but even the exchequer???

Prostitution (as in accepting money for sex) is legal in Ireland.

It's solicitation and running a brothel that are illegal. Hence the number of 'escort' agencies and 'massage' parlours operating with impunity. The business is not held responsible for whatever you might negotiate with the 'escort' or 'masseuse'.

Ironically in regard to your post, I believe making porn (or at least distributing it) might be illegal in Ireland.

There was a case argued about this during the 70s in American I believe. Ron Jeremy talked about it in a documentary of his.

    Well yes...
You should have posted this in the 'obvious things you've just noticed thread'.

Porno imho is a very stupid thing to do, the footage/pics will always be out there. Thankfully theres a plentiful supply of stupid girls.
Also if its a case of being broke how is it theres so many women in the game with silicone bewbs.

Im shocked by the numbers of girls on the net too, some of them must be in it for the shex primarily.

I'd tend to agree. If it's just for making money why can't it be that it can be earned legally, pay taxes on it and be safe going to work. Why should anybody feel threatened when earning a crust. This prostitution charity, and I can't remember the name of it, why aren't they fighting to have the game legalised on all fronts and protect their clients interests from that perspective.

As far as porno is concerned, I'm not sure that it is illegal to make it here in Ireland. Even distribution or sale is a bit grey as far as the legality of it is concerned, but why can't people try make some money in a responsible manner. As far as I'm concerned the only reason that it might be illegal would be that it has some sort or moral/religious backing to it but that's hardly relevant in 21st century Ireland is it???

    lmmfao

religion not being relevant in this day and age, you anti-christ you :P

just have to look at the abortion thread to see how strongly moral viewpoints of some STILL affect freedoms. Despite having no real effect on the life of those who are strongly against

Escorts/prostitutes are the unsung heroes of modern society, especially in Ireland.

When I first started having sex with them, it was almost as surreal of an experience as if aliens landed from outer space, given I experienced SEVERE sexual frustration for all of my life up until my first visit at the age of 24. Never thought I'd touch a munter, let alone the delicious Spanish/Italian/French/Bosnian/Ukrainian/Czech/Brazilian/Colombian/Argentinian/Korean etc. etc. etc. etc. beauties I have since on MANY occasions banged.

Anyway, on the issue, I don't see how either can be illegal in a fair society

Not when the people doing the porn, actually want to have sex, and aren't just doing it for the money; porn doesn't even have to involve sex.

Ah come on. For the most part, that's precisely what it involves. Unless you're talking bout the dark side, risqué types of porno (snuff, bestiality, extreme violence etc....) All of which should be banned IMO.
