    No Cool, only swag.

Expect to find old people looking and hounding for bargins, hoping to be the next big thing on the Antiques Road Show.
Then loads of scumbags (can't call them knackers), selling people back recently robbed stuff.

There will be some proper stalls set up with people interested in selling some bits at a good price. Probably some home cooking stalls too.

    It's' 'were'.

Remember, conjugate the verb 'to go'.

I have been to many car boot sales, some are good and some are rubbish. I have bought many useful things, from picture frames to an unused food blender for a fiver, which still works great after using it for ten years. http://www.thetoolboxshop.com/user/products/large/47648-car-boot-liner-6847-p.jpg

Got a copy of Brian Clough's autobiography, signed by the man himself.

    7 euro well spent.

That doesn't make any sense. Were is past tense of the verb 'to be'. If you're going to be a grammar dick, you should at least know your material first!

"Romanes eunt domus"? People called Romanes, they go, the house?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,822 ✭✭✭sunflower27

Yeah, expect a lot of junk :D

I almost never go and when I do I don't find anything good. You have to be early and know what you want.
Too easy to buy some Chinese plastic crap.

    But that is an order.

Last one I went to there was a man with a table piled up with old car radios, the old style ones (two knob mounting) that can't be easily fitted into a modern car!

Did get a few spare parts though.

One man's trash is another man's treasure.... just goes to show that is true.

I haven't been to a car boot sale in many years. May have to check them out locally now. :)

You'll probably be able to pick up and box of old remote controls and a bundle of spunked-on copies of nuts magazine from 2005, for a decent price. There could be a guy selling pirate DVD's, but I think the internet has largely wiped those out.

So exactly like a charity shop then. Flogging stuff they got for free at crazy prices.

A few years ago I bought a cool painting for £25 at a car-boot sale just outside London. Turned out to be from a fairly well known artist. It's probably worth a few hundred but I've never had it properly valued. It's similar to this and by the same artist.

You can find some quality stuff at the ones in the UK and France, but of the few I've chanced on here it was 99% tat. YMMV.

Rejoice in the awareness of feeling stupid, for that’s how you end up learning new things. If you’re not aware you’re stupid, you probably are.

I don't even bother with them now, usually just heaps of broken stuff.
