A3s eligible for National Elite Race

was told recently A3s are not eligible but think I spotted in CI2013 book that they are. Can someone clarify and also recommend if they deem it worthwhile entering (if still open to enter). Obviously I won't be winning the thing but opinions on participation welcome. Any other A3s entering?
