When an event thread is this late to be created. Its quiet obvious not many care about this card.

    Woodley/Shields should be interesting.

I am actually shocked about how many people are picking against Rosi Sexton. Yes, it might not be her weight class but Alexis Davis record is not great by any means.

Around 95% of people on Sherdog fantasy picked Davis.

am i noticing that ufc numbered events threads are being made very close to fight times now? not much build up like there used to be?

just noticed your post but yeah i think its been a gradual slope to this and not just the card. Maybe all the non numbered events are so frequent and actually pretty good too is another reason

    Stout Krause an FOTN candidate?

Just checked the result there on wiki of the Pat Barry fight cause I missed it
    Method of win was
"Plane Crash into a pit of cobra snakes size of Elephant cocks! (donkey punches)"

Roy Nelson's head is made of stone. He's a punching bag in this one.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,896 ✭✭✭✭Mellor

Roy has a granite chin. But there's just nothing left in his fists at this stage.

    Dominant performance from Miocic

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,970 ✭✭✭Lenin Skynard

Not the usual Nelson but Miocic deserves to be where he'll be after this. He can put in a good showing with the best of them I think.

Roy Nelson looked awful in that fight. He was knackered after about 30 seconds.

I think it was the repeated big shots to the head that ruined him, not that he was knackered.
Its a testament to his chin that he even survived 3 rounds and not a criticism of his stamina/performance.

I scored that one for Henderson. Thought he won the first 2 rounds. Close fight.

Boring night really. Watched all of the fights beginning with the dustin pague fight and by the time the Rashad fight had rolled around I was just looking forward to going to bed. Had a fiver on the Roland delorme fight to be FOTN at 18/1 so sticking around to watch the press conference, think I'm in with a good shout

Wafer thin fight in the main event, I thought Evans took it, but if I looked at it again it could be different. Hendo may be 42/43 but he is a full nights work for anyone in the cage, a legend of the sport. Hendo threw no kicks and no takedowns that I recall, anyone?

Nope, not one, like Rogan said if he'd thrown a kick he could have fcuked Rashad up, Hendo was just lookin for the bomb

Yes he has a fantastic chin, but that doesn't change the fact he looked like Homer Simpson fighting tonight, he was knackered because he was unfit, same thing happened vs JDS and Werdum, the only thing that saves him is his chin. I feel bad for the guy being a punching bag.

Have to say nelson was put back in his place again tonight.

It was quiet laughable people were saying he deserves a title shot cause he knocked out a few cans.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,491 ✭✭✭stuchyg

I was shocked by how quick he gassed, he is normally good into the second round at least. Dana must have been delighted with the loss

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,454 ✭✭✭weemcd

This is the type of fight I used to hate watching Nelson in. If he doesn't get the KO and his opponent is fit enough for him he becomes a walking punch bag, I don't need to see him gassed, walking into strikes for 3/5 rounds. He is not competitive. After what he said this week and the loss I wouldn't jump to offer him a new contract, unless he was prepared to drop weight.

No need for Barry in the UFC either, he's nowhere near even the top 20. If I was Dana and the next round of cuts came up these two would be on top of my list.

Woodley/Shields is a good candidate for most boring fight of the year.

The move of the fight highlights were a few clinches where nothing happened!

Boring night, don't know how I lasted till after 5am!

The undercard was better than the main one, thought Big Countries cardio was shown up (non existent!) but great chin and Miocic executed the perfect game plan for him.

Woodley fight wasn't great although I thought he did enough to win.

Hard to split the Evans v Henderson fight although I had Evans (just)

I was glad when it was all over!!

Thought Evans won myself, how come it wasn't a 5 rounder

I actually thought hendo v rashad was one of the better fights of the night. Not very hard to be fair. It was only 3 rounds because the main event was meant to be barao vs wineland so hendo/evans had only trained for 3 rounds

Roy Nelson and Dan Henderson are very frustrating fighters to watch at times as they have developed into one trick ponies and are relatively easy to gameplan for. Basically avoid the right hand bomb and you have a great shot at winning a decision against them. It kills me to say that as Henderson is probably my favourite fighter of all time. That fight last night was there to be won from both men(Hendo and Rashad) it was that close. Henderson could have tried to mix it up a bit and try take Rashad down to give him something else to think about. His takedown defence was spot on more or less last night so why not try his wrestling in attack just to mix it up. If he mixed it up with a few body shots and kicks etc he probably would have gotten the decision. Walking forward with the right hand cocked will not work against smart fighters like Machida and Rashad or at least won't work most of the time anyway. Awful annoying watching the time wind down and you know he's going to keep doing the same thing and it is clearly not working, but then again he has so much confidence in it at all times it's always a danger too I suppose.

Roy Nelsons cardio was horrendous last night, grant it it's never too good at the best of times but that was shocking in fairness. A walking punch bag from about a minute in, the ultimate one trick pony. Like Henderson that's all he seems to rely on completely anymore, avoid that in round1 and any opponent has a great chance to win a decision as he'll more than likely gas out. In saying that I'd love to see him fight Mark Hunt if he gets a contract renewal.

I had Tyrone Woodly backed to win by ko, it was as frustrating to watch, I felt he could take Shields out at any stage but he just didn't seem to be able to pull the trigger to do so. The guy that stopped Stout (who is as hard as a coffin nail) was very impressive for a UFC debut. He was super confident and never panicked at all even when hurt with a body shot. You coud tell he had a heap of fights on his resume. I really enjoyed the prelims but the main card was fairly lack lustre. The ladies fights always deliver though in my opinion, Rosi Sexton is dog tough as she seemed to be tiny in comparison to her opponent. Shields looked way bigger than Woodley also I thought to be honest, at least framewise anyway.

Very poor show but then a Rashad main event was always gonna be awful, as an MMA fan for a mere 3years ive never seen him have a genuinely entertaining fight, hes incredibly awful to watch.

As you've only been watching for 3yrs check out Rashad's fight vs Bisping, it headlined a card, UFC 78.

Watch that then come back to me and say Rashad is never in an interesting fight ;);)

Meh, i suppose my point is that he seems to be living on what hes done really, he beats guys by out cardio-ing them, hes just not entertaining for me, probably the last name id wish for on any card.

Rashad is definitely one of my least favourite fighters to watch in the UFC along with Clay Guida.

the funny thing is they're both PPV draws apparently.

Did you see Rashads gaff on the build up to his fight with Jones?

    Chaps manager must be amazing.

    Not a fan of Rashad, hes a fairly decent fighter but i think hes been fortunate with a lot of the people he has fought;

Liddell- on the slide at that stage
Griffin- Not the best to start with, dont think hes won a meaningful fight since
Silva- as far as i remember he was lucky he wasnt finished, vaugley remember silva having him hurt and slapping him on the ears instead of going for the kill
Jackson-well out of shape jackson, think he was almost finished there
    Ortiz- miles past his best
Henderson- 42 at this stage, not at his best

I thought Roland Delorme vs. Edwin Figueroa was FOTN. Fantastic technical battle. In fact apart from the Jake Shields snore fest the preliminary card was far better than the main card. Great debut from James Krause.
