Hi I'm just about to enter my final year studying History and Politics in UCD and as such am looking at masters programmes around the country and theres a few in UCD which look good but having looked at what queens offers I'm interested there. The course that interested me most we're the MA in Politics and the MA in Irish studies as both cover my core interests which is politics (obviously ) and Irish/Nothern Irish history. I'd also be interested to study all this from a northern stance. I was wondering has anyone done any of the two and if so what did you think?

As someone from the midlands I stay in dublin regardless so theres no advantage of choosing UCD in that sense while the cost of the masters is around €500 cheaper in Queens. I was also wondering about grants, I currently receive a county council grant that pays my registration and gives me €3000 a year to pay for other costs but I've heard (wrongly perhaps) that it's possible to extend this by a year if I'm studying in Belfast? If thats not the case is there any other avenues to get grants from that a based on income rather than academic requirements? While I get good grades and should get a 2.1 looking at what I can see on the qub website there is only a limited number of academic grants which I wouldnt have much chance of getting. Besides that any thoughts on belfast as a city or the university is would be good and the cost living would be great!

Thanks in advance for any replies!

Thanks for the response man, dissapointing to see that it isnt as NI focused as it should be but at the moment its up there with one or two other MAs. One thing that looked really good was the weekly talks from the irish institute, looked so interesting!

As regards the cost of living, did you find it expensive in comparison to say Dublin?

I've been looking up accommodation and Elms village seems to pop up alot is that the place to head for accommodation?
