Was gonna post in the other thread but the lads got a bit carried away with the jam so Im not going to derail them.

    Anywho.

I think most everybody knows that some people on social struggle big time while others on it seem to live on it quite happily.

How do you people think it would work with a tier system. Whereby each case is treated on its own merit (albeit within guidelines), but the general idea is that the more your expenses the more you should get.

Obviously expenses are necessities such as ESB, rent etc and not bills like Sky, internet, golf club.

Every 6 months or so you send in a budget along with copies of bills etc to see if your rates need adjustments.

I think that would be a much fairer system then whats in place currently.

The people who live happily on the dole are the true bums who can't wait til they're 18 to get free money. That's all they see it as. The ones who struggle are obviously the ones who had a steady job and for whatever reason they have to go on the dole.

To answer your question, it sounds good on paper but would probably be too time consuming trying to prove legitimate expenses.
