The UK has gone to the dogs. They have lost the plot. Political Correctness rules over there much like Islam rules in Pakistan. Saying the wrong thing can get you in big trouble. I hope people wake up from this madness soon.

This is just madness, i mean how was he really supposed to know that what he said was racist.

I would'nt get offended if this person asked me to go for a plate spuds.

Mr Hunt looks devastated. He was simply trying to hunt some fanny by luring her in with a bacon sandwich, now he'll be luring through rubbish in the hopes of mouldy toast for breakfast. Either that or he'll find another job.

I'd have thought it would have been more racist of him to assume she was Muslim just by judging her on her the colour of her skin, if I had gotten that stupid call I would have said that.
TBH it makes that girl and the NHS look very bad for making any kind of a deal out of a real non issue. It really makes the girl look like a complete tool for even bringing it up.

It IS possible that the one side to the story presented above may not be the whole truth.

Seems ridiculous alright. It is the Daily Mail though.

Should the recruiter not be fired for interpreting an innocent comment in a racist way.... ? I mean did he know she was a practising Muslim, did he care... ?

It's the daily Mail. It's completely one sided nonsense, all we have is this fellas word for it that he was sacked for this reason.

They do this muck all of the time. Ignore them.

Jeez, that woman must have little else to do with her time than look to take offence at an on the surface of it, innocent off the cuff reply. She brought up breakfast he said he'd get the bacon sandwiches. She chose to take offence and make a complaint to her boss. If anything her boss should have pointed out to her that she was being ridiculous. Then again if the boss had done that we'd probably be reading that she was suing him for something ridiculous:rolleyes:

She's probably just screwed up her own career advancement prospects, I mean would you hire that kind of bullsh*t attitude?

...or, more than likely, yer woman sez 'that fella said something odd about bacon sandwiches - not sure if he was getting a dig in or not - would ye ring him?' following from which the manager rings and queries him, gets an earful, and decides to have nothing to do with him.

I don't like reading these type of things, because it just makes me want to kill myself.

If he really didn't get the job because of that comment he should have grounds for a lawsuit imo

Hardly any quotes in that article and a few are switched around.

The title has "dream" job but the guy never mentions it was a dream job.

Sandwich, sarnie, just what did he say as the quote keeps changing.

Maybe the story is true but the editor was messing around here

And why is it under science? :pac:

The never ending climate of stories like this, world gone mad etc. etc. really depresses me. Things in life are difficult enough without people going out of their way to nit-pick at something someone said in order to persecute them for fear of offending someone.

All the power of free speech is gone unless you are stupid or a minority, then it appears you can say what you want

I am a minority in that I like to lick mustered off the fat rolls of munters, where's my powerful free speech abilities? Last week I farted in bed, and got in trouble for it with my wife. I don't even have free speech anally how am I going to have it vocally?

But there no need to be over dramatic about it. Bottom line is no one knows exactly what happened or was said during the interview, all we have is the word of a rag that tries to sensationalise its stories to get a reaction.

    Chill man

    Chill man
This whole story is full of holes. He said he was offered a contract with the NHS and was supposed to start on Monday. The lady that had the problem with him was a Reed consultant. If all the paperwork was finalised and he was contracted to the NHS, then surely it would have been up to the NHS to terminate him?

All we know about the interview (was that with the NHS or the recruitment agency?) is that he was led to believe he had an eight month contract. I doubt he was the only person interviewed for a job that pays £1,000 per week so he had to have been articulate and intelligent enough to bag the job offer. The lady said that she would come over to the site and take them for breakfast which indicates that she was happy with his interview. It's not clear if the NHS or Reed would have the final say on his hiring but he was pretty sure he had the job.

What's also not clear is what was said in the phone call. He reckons that a senior manager from Reed called him up and wanted to know why he made a racist remark. If it's true, straight away that would put anyone on the defensive. To find out that your "racist" remark was to offer to buy the bacon sandwiches when someone else said they would meet you for breakfast is incredible. The guy does admit that the conversation didn't go well as the manager kept trying to make him admit he was in the wrong and eventually he lost his temper and told them to sod off.

To be honest he has probably had a lucky escape. If his contract was outsourced to Reed and they have employees that are that sensitive, it would've never worked out.

TL:DR If he was hired by the NHS, how did the agency fire him?

yeah had read this in the manchester evening news site.
its friggen ridiculous, even if we were to use a discriminative label here it woud not be racist, the reason muslims do not eat pigs is a religeon issue; not race.

the guy was desperate for a bacon butty, over here it is probably the most common lunch/breakfast that working younger and middle aged people have, how was he supposed to know she was going to flip her sht about a harmless question of whether she wanted to join him or not for a butty?
he coud have totaly ignored her when making his decision for brekkie which woud have been rude but he asked her and paid a price for it.
he needs to sue the company/woman to sort this out,he has been wrongly labeled a racist publicaly and lost a much needed job.

a user says its PC gone mad over here, thats the first have heard of it being a lifelong UK resident, perhaps if were affected by the issues woud be more sensitive to how it affects different people.
the police are getting off their backsides and doing something about cyber bullying before it becomes a big issue thats hard to crack so well done to the police, cyber bullying is life changing for some of us as adults-which am guessing is what were refering to,more so the arrests from trolls on twitter/facebook.

I have often ordered beef from the local Indian. The cow is sacred over there and here's me eating it. How disgusting. From this moment on I will refuse to order from that menu until they take of all cow products.

Your local Indian is Pakistani. Not Indian. Not what it says on the tin at all :)

So they will serve you beef but they won't serve you pork ;)
