Anyone got any recent knowledge of this place (Proto Alegre, Brazil). Am due to arrive there very shortly for a short term work related stay.

P.S. I won't be there for the world cup next year :( (host city)

P.P.S unless the workfairy sends me back ;)

When I was there awhile back, I decided to take a walk-about, but when leaving alone during a pretty mid-day, the hotel concierge warned me to not walk about the city alone, even by day. He recommended that I travel with friends to reduce the chance of being victimized.

Had the same feeling when I was there last year but I was staying with a guy who lived there so I didn't get any hassle
