SSD Problem

I have a Crucial M4 128gb ssd as the boot drive on my pc and when i turned on my pc tonight it just booted to the motherboard (ASRock) screen with uefi options, after a few seconds it loaded a screen that said:
"No detectable boot drive,Please select boot options"

I tried CTRL+ALT+DEL and the pc rebooted and loaded into windows.
So thought id try that again and it did the same thing except this time i went into uefi boot options to set the ssd as boot drive but it was not detected?

I powered the pc down again and changed the sata 3 port the ssd was connected to on the motherboard and got the same problem,no ssd detected but a CTRL+ALT+DEL reset from the "No detectable Boot drive" screen loads into windows.

This is the motherboard, ssd and OS i have:
    SSD: Crucial M4 128gb
    Mobo:Asrock Pro 4
    OS:Windows 64-Bit Home Premium

    Has anybody had this problem?
Any help would be appreciated cheers

It's a common occurance I think. If you go to thr crucial support page you will see info on how to fix it. Has happened to me twice once I had to rebuild. another time it came back using their procedure. From what I can remember that entails connecting the ssd with only the power connecter connected for 20 mins and repeating this 3 times. I think people had different variations of this to get it back working I think I read somewhere it could be caused by a power issue, ssd locks itself out to protect itself, if the pc is not turned off properly etc it can cause it. All this can be found on the crucial support page if you google it

Ye ive just been on the Crucial support page, seems to suggest a firmware update might solve this problem?

    Edit:
Its does go on to say that it could be a power up timing issue. The whole fix from 040H firmware to 070H seems to just be about this issue.

Should i just download and install the firmware?

Cheers grumpygit, just installed the new firmware (Crucials suggested fix for the power issue, like you said the drive protecting itself).

Booted up and powered down a few times to check and no problems so far so hopefully thats sorted it.
Ill check again tomorrow and see after a cold boot

It says it can be caused by improper shutdown which is weird cause i always shut pc down properly and never use sleep or hibernation etc,so there must be some other issue.

I did notice the pc acting a little strange last night or two, downloaded Saints Row 3 and got some weird temps on gpu but thought that was the game.
    But hopefully thats unrelated!

I had exactly the same issue-give a look here, specifically the reply from MC_G. Like grumpygit said, the 'power cycle' fix seems to fix it. I have same M4 drive with the 040H firmware.

Think I screwed mine up by removing the SSD's Data cable before power from the PSU had fully dissipated. I plan on updating the firmware next week, have to re-install the OS anyway as I'm changing GPUs from amd to nvidia. Will let you know how it goes.

Hopefully its not psu or power related and it just needed the firmware update.

I always make sure to power pc off correctly so cant be that,i mean it takes something like 25 seconds for the pc to boot off the ssd so if im not using it it gets powered down and if i need it it only takes seconds to boot up so i dont use sleep mode or hibernation etc
Which from what i read on here can sometimes cause issues for ssd's
