If you ever wanted to buy one they will allow you the amount you have paid for rental towards the lens.

They charge €150 for 7 days rental of gear worth up to €1000. Is it worth it? imho yes, as they will deduct rental charge if you decide to buy specific lens. It's good opportunity to figure out whether or not specific lens and focal length would be suitable for you.. in my opinion main disadvantage is lack of insurance for rented gear hence in case of theft you will have to pay market price for it.

Maybe a slightly more risky strategy, but you could buy second hand, and hope to resell for the same value after a week/month or whenever you're done. Though Id probably only do that if I didnt have a time limit to get my money back or if there was a possibility I might want to keep the lens.

I agree, but I only know about conns and berminghamcams in town. They have everything what you need. Is there any other well equipped shop?
