Any decent phones on the way

Noticed I have an upgrade with Vodafone and the newer tariffs work out cheaper than my current one. I have a Note 2 at the moment, and know later in the year the Note 3 should be out. At the moment I'd have no problem waiting for the note 3, but I'm wondering if I am limiting myself a bit. Is there anything else in the pipeline worth considering. Looking for something high end for the novelty value.

    Thanks.

Android will be releasing their latest phone later this year to supersede the Nexus 4. May be worth holding on a bit and seeing what they bring out.

Note 3, Moto X and perhaps a new Nexus in the fall are the only flagships I know. All of the other big companies (HTC, Samsung, Sony) have only just released their new lineup and I don't think anyone else is expected to shock us this year.

Should be a good phone but very unlikely that irish providers will have it.

There is rumour of a bigger htc one which might fit the bill.

Yeah, I'd like to go back to a HTC alright. I like the One but with the battery life of a Note would be great.

I'm the same as yourself, waiting for the Note 3. And according to current rumours we might not have to wait till september for it because Samsung have an event coming up on the 20th of June where is was presumed they would be launching the S4 Zoom and S4 Activ but Samsung have already officially released these handsets so they don't have much left to release besides the Galaxy camera 2 and Galaxy tab 3 so fingers crossed we won't have to wait.

But of course take that with a pinch of salt as Samsung are sticklers for routine and the last two notes were launched at or before the Ifa. Which is on in Berlin in the first week of september.

Yes Phil I've been following those same rumors and am hoping it comes on the 20th as suggested. I've been due an upgrade for quite a while now and its been hard to resist going straight out and getting an S4.

Don't even go there I was set on the Xperia Z and had my credit card in hand but Three acted the prick so I couldn't get it.

Then I had the money ready to go up to three the Saturday after the S4 release but once again Three were true to form and acted the prick again and said only new customers could get the handset and not upgrades.

So it's the one time I'm thankful for Three being a complete cluster**** of a network because I now know I can wait for the far superior Note 3 and also run as far and as fast away from Three as possible as a bonus.

There is the HTC Butterfly S coming soon, like the one but a bigger screen and battery.
Might not have the ultrapixel camera of the one, but it should be good.

FWIW I find the Htc one battery nearly as good as the Note 2. Not a lot on the difference for me tbh.

The plan I would be going for has the One for free too. Might go for it maybe, although I was half considering an iPhone as I prefer the music player on that to anything on Android. I'll still keep my Nexus 7 and soon to arrive Nexus 10 mind!

The HTC One looks like a nice piece of kit too. If it wasn't hanging on for the note 3 I would be giving it serious consideration. I like the idea of the stylus on the note, is there anything similar in the pipeline from other manufacturers?

Wound up getting a HTC One. Small screen is taking some getting used to but still have my note 2 for when I know I need it. Pretty happy so far, a lot more setting up and tweaking required with it but it will keep me busy for the weekend.

Very mid end is an understatement!
    1.7ghz dual core and 720p!
Jesus what is it a Lumia?

720p doesn't really bother me, it's hard to tell the difference in such a small screen. The processor is pretty **** though

Hopefully, the Nexus 5 with KLP will be the big one of the year. The difficulty is getting your hands on it in Ireland. Depending on price, I'd hope to buy sim-free. Maybe with Flubit it might be possible to get.

I have the Galaxy Nexus and I'll be waiting to see the spec on the Nexus 5 before I decide where to direct my next purchase. I prefer pure Android out of the box if I can get it, so Nexus devices (also have the Nex 10) are my prefered.

my sister just got the s4 which is a great device, and with a pure Android version coming soon, might be worth considering.

The LG Optimus G Pro (E985) looks like a serious contender to the Note. It's faster and has a full HD display compared to the Note 2, so it could be comparable to the Note 3, when it comes out.

It's like a carbon copy of the Note 2!

It is a bit Samsungy in its design. Specs wise it's better for sure.

First time I've heard of that new Sony device but it ain't gonna be much good if we can't get it over here.

Also if it's a camera phone your after and don't want the bulk of the galaxy zoom then Google the Nokia EOS it's gonna pack a 40 mega pixel camera.

I read about the mega a few weeks back and I was tempted but the specs put me off.
Like the screen resolution and the processor aren't best in class for What's out there.
Also I think 6.3 isn't going to be that pocket friendly.
Gonna wait for the Note 3 with its 6 inch screen and tiny bezels which shouldn't make it much bigger than the Note 2. I think the front of the phone is gonna be 83% screen.

The Note 3 will be the better device and if I wanted a phablet, that's what I'd wait for. Unless Google contracted a company to make one for them with a stock Android, of course! If only... The Mega is disappointing as it has the same pixel density as the original Galaxy S. The processor is fine, but the GPU isn't as good as what's in the S4 US variant or the Nexus 4, etc. The Mega is definitely a middle-of-the-road device.
