    Hi,

Thanks in advance for any replies.

Im going to shorten the shorty, basically my mom is in a nursing home for the last 15 years, since she was 49 as a result of 3 strokes and a brain hemorrhage. As you can imagine even now at 64 she is still the youngest person in there. She has her down days but usually she is a fairly upbeat person, but lately she is just so down all the time. My father brings her out every weekend during the day on Saturday and Sunday, and we both visit her every evening.

My question is - is there any clubs or groups that would be based in Cork that she could go to during the day during the week? Just to get her out of the home and meet people that she can actually talk to. We used Headway for a while, which was great, but was costing too much on taxi's on top of the nursing home fee's as the health board wouldnt fund it.

Just looking for ideas/ She is completely paralysed so cant use computers, paint or anything, but she can talk forever and her speech is perfect

    Really appreciate any help guys

    x

Great, thank you. This is actually something we had looked into, we have an OT calling to see her as they have a lot of stuff now for people with disabilties. I was also looking for info on clubs or something like that, I suppose there is only so much time she can spend in her room. Thanks for this though
