Cant decide between the Nvidia 770gtx or the AMD Radeon HD 7970, both are similarly priced and both have around the same benchmarks.

Has anybody any advice in the matter??

Neither. Save some money and get a 7950 or 2 x 660 gtx instead.

If there's nothing other than the hardware to consider then the 770 is the better card.

If however you are looking to get some free games with your purchase then the 7970 would be the better option as I think the latest 'Never Settle' bundle comes with 4 games!

How long will those cards last at pretty high settings?

Each has benefits, AMD supports Eyefinity, Nvidia will have Shield soon, 3D performance differs. Depends what you plan to upgrade to in the future but as was said above the 770 performs slightly better overall

I hope to SLI/Crossfire in a year or so I'd like to get a Mid-High end card now so its cheaper to upgrade later but if bloodbaths recommendation could preform as well as long I would consider 660's

7950 will be by far the best bang for buck. We are awaiting a driver which is to be released soon which will supposedly address the issues Crossfire has currently.

2 x 660's would be the best bang for buck if your board supports sli. They are around 780gtx performance and you can get a pair of them for €330 excluding delivery.

These would be better bang for buck, yeah. I was going off the list given by the OP...:P

    What about two 660ti's?

To be honest, 2 660s are powerful enough.

I still think there's better value in the dual 660 gtx though. I just noticed that they went up by €10 on HWVS though. The gigabyte ones were a bargain for €165 each.

A 770 is basically a 680 with higher clock speeds.

    Here's 2 660ti's vs a single 680gtx.

They went up in price by €9.74 per card alright.

Glad I ordered my two on Tuesday now at the €164.99 price , they where shipped yesterday :D .

Slightly going off topic but if you could get a GTX 770 for around 280-330
this one to be exact would you get it??? My brother in law is in the States visiting his brother who sells and upgrades pc's over there and can get me a few components at cost, will be doing a build in a week or two, so would it be worth my while to get one for that price? Was planning on going 660sli but now don't know

Well that is an excellent price/performance ratio, so yeah, go for it. Can't go wrong. I'd prefer this to SLI unless you're going 1400p.

Not going 1440 yet too expensive at the minute for anything 32" or higher imo, but it would pointless further on down the road to sli on a 770 without playing on that resolution with a mulit-monitor setup

Then I'd go for a 770 at that price. The cheapest 770s in Europe go for 343 euro, so anything less than that is superb value, making the 770 well worth it.

What's the rest of your setup?

Haven't decided yet but will have roughly €1200-1300 after the gpu to fill in the blanks, I'll post it up in a new thread once I know my brother in law hasn't being f***** in customs coming back and hit with 150euro tax on top of the gpu which would represent great value for money then  lol

If you bring it yourself you won't get hit. You can just say you brought it over yourself and are bringing it back or something. Customs would be less if it were to apply anyway, I think.

Tell them it was a gift and they can't do a thing.
