As the title says, what are all ye guys being charged. We starting doing our own pit silage last year and I was thinking of putting the harvester out for hire as its a shame to have it sitting in the shed. I was thinking of charging 32 euro per acre for harvester only, would ye think that would work?

Not too many customers for you I'd say as few lads would have the ability to draw their own and put a shovel on the pit.
Would you be better served gathering up a lad with a shovel and a few with tractors and trailers and going the whole hog putting a full outfit on the road? A new crew appeared like this about here. All small contractors who did a bit of wrapping etc and are now gathering a good customer base for themselves as they all had a few customers from wrapping, slurry etc.

By the way I pay €100 + VAT for my full outfit at pit silage. Class jaguar harvester, fleet of NH T6000 and T7000 tractors with a shovel on the pit. Butterfly wings mowing ahead of them.

110e, which includes mowing, a trailed sp, 2 trailers and buck rake. Whole farm is on the one block, so very short draws for the silage.

Should have said some of my silage base is 8 miles away on an out farm

We could do the whole lot I suppose. At the moment we pull with our neighbor to do our silage, we pick up his grass and he pushes up ours, we both mow it down and we both supply trailers to draw it in. If we are in his place he supplies all the diesel and if we are in ours we supply all the diesel, I'd say he would be up for a bit of hire work too so I might just ask him.
