Slurry Tanker Splash Plate Unit

Bought a second hand tanker. There is a 8" Wide Flange Gate Valve with Gas Return Hydraulic Ram on the back, however no Splash plate unit. (6" pipe)

Therefore I am free to purchase what ever type I want as long as it fits the 8" wide flange. Obviously a downward facing splash plate, as upwards is illegal I believe.

Any recommendations?? I will never ever be using it for filling, only spreading.

Are some of them inclined to fall off on the road?? Is there a high likelihood of getting your hands covered in slurry when clearing a blockage in some types?? Some have 2 clamps and others 3!!

Looking for a few words of wisdom from the boards.ie Slurry Tanker Owners Club. Photos of your own set-up would be very much appreciated.

C'mon guys and gals - Help a brother out!! ;)

    What make is your tank?

Have a rossmore here but putting an abbey splashplate on it is a tight squeeze, I think the rings that take the clamps are a slightly different size. Abbey have 3 clamps and rossmore has 2.

If the seat's wet, sit on yer hat, a cool head is better than a wet ar5e.

The hi spec ones are strong and have a brilliantly even wide spread it has a strut to hold it so u would have to weld on a couple of flanges to the tanker. But it cannot fall off and will not move

Do the tanker manufacturers make their own units or are they all sourcing them from a limited few suppliers?

I see McHugh Components in Dublin (Wholesalers) have 2 or 3 different types.

My options are open as I am connecting directly to the sluice valve flange.

A buddy of mine has problems with slurry spraying back onto the mudguards and lights of the tanker. I'd like to avoid that anyway....

What happens if you are using an upward facing splash plate? Will they fine you if you get caught?

My auld tank is well over 20 years old. Looks it too! It has upward splash plate. Fooked if I'm spending money on a down plate.
Plank who invented that rule, probably got promoted three times on the strength of it, and is now enjoying a fat pension, courtesy of the tax payer.

Likelihood of getting covered heat to foot when taking it off to clear a blockage, if you don't put the vacuum pump into "neutral" and let the pressure off!
And if a stone comes out under pressure, pray it misses you!

Usually kick the clamps off, and get yourself a pair of elbow length rubber gloves.

    Nice looking yoke...
Ideal for the fella who has no interest in the trailing shoe, dribble bars etc...

Pity I gave Atkins Farm Machinery €159 + VAT for the standard type back in June or July:(

Wonder if I power washed it a few times and took it back for a refund!! :D:D
