I have a Ford Focus which has been parked for the past 2 and a half years and was wondering what I would get for it if I scrap it.

What are scrap cars making in the Galway area.

    Any replies appreciated.

Well, it depends how bad it is?
Is the car driving (or at least was it before), can it be fixed, is it relatively good bodywise or is it a complete wreck with chickens living in it?
If it's relatively OK, stick it on Done Deal and see what happens, otherwise scrap metal dealers will give you a few quid for it, I'm sure.

Take many pics and put it on donedeal and adverts.ie and see what people are wiling to offer.

    What they said....
As long as the car is not a complete wreck you should get at least 2 or 3 times what any scrap dealer will give you.
I can't give you a figure for Galway but here in Limerick you would get between €120 and €150 for the car from a scrapyard if you deliver it, depending on weight.
Stick it up on DD (with a fairly honest description) for €350/€400 and see what happens.
Even if you only get €250 it's still saved you the hassle of bringing it to the scrapyard and you've gained €100 or so.

Also have a look at other Ads on DD to see how others word their Ad for a car without an NCT, best bet is to list any faults and advertise it for spares or repair.

It's not in bad condition considering it was parked outside for over 2 years. All panels in good shape. Got it going today but it does need a few parts: alternator, 2 tyres and possibly a water pump, (wont be sure of that until tomorrow).

Prob will stick it up on donedeal for parts.

    Surely get something for it..:)

Have a quick look on DD for Focus's between €250 and €600. There are 65 cars there now. Some sound better than yours, some have blown engines, etc.
    Most are €400 or so.....;)
