I could see myself wearing the green one, sadly.. I'd get a neutral case back though, that Top Gun logo, yuck.

Actually, no.. I'd like to retract the above statement.

Not a fan of those colour schemes but I do rather like this one.

Here are a couple more options.

I guess these would be my "exit watches" ...if I ever consider buying one of these, surely it's time to exit stage left and have myself commited :D

    "Boutique Edition" my arse ...

oh dear - the top gun series is quite niche in the first place I'd imagine - so I personally wouldn't get one, as with that logo on the back, all i could think of would be that terrible cheesy movie......But pink etc - just too much

....though I do like IWC's and would like to have most (90%) of their watches and they seem to be doing well in their market.

    These though - no.

I just can't help but think of these things:

I've just vomm'd a little and I haven't even been flying. Being an IWC fan (Big Pilot/Portuguese), I really can't get the increasing frequency with TopGun issues. I get the aviation connections but the watches are just grim.

a logo on the back bothers you?

It does.. I would buy the watch for myself.. and that would ruin it, I would be (ever so slightly) annoyed every time I took it off, well, at that price bracket anyway.

I like the styling of the watch, but military themed 'stuff' has to be quite slight, I don't feel the need to indulge..

EDIT There's quite a few brands where I absolutely love the watches on offer, but loathe the logo. Orient would be one brand, Steinhart would be another, that spiked 'S', ugh.

Based on the recent iterations in the Ingenieur range there seems to be some evidence to suggest that IWC have taken on the f@cking idiot responsible for producing all of those eyesores for Zenith a few years back (Zenith Extreme Defy et al). This effort on the Pilot range seems to reinforce the view.

had an opportunity yesterday to drop into IWC in Schaffausen. Down a side street in the town and had a look around their very small showrooms.
In the 10 min I walked around there was over 15k CHF dropped on watches. Not bad commission for the 2 ladies in their on sales
Didnt get time to look around further and see if there was any museum.

Really picturesque town aswell. Lots of small shops selling older watches and they have a shop in the town aswell that sells small window boxes with many used watches for sale.
You can tell from the town the influence IWC has with lots of clocks everywhere
Well worth a visit if anybody gets nearby and take a quick trip down to the Rheinfall aswell

Picked up a copy of the 2013 Chronos Katalog aswell so have plenty of pages to flick through over the next few weeks

Wife thinks I've lost the plot already ;)

Well done - glad that you made it. I got snowed in in Zürich for three days in 2010 and managed to make it there.

It is interesting to see the new color setups on board but I would question the low light readability of these. Specially the blue and the green one. I used to have a red handed watch on black dial and it was mediocre the most in low light with no lume charge. I wouldn't buy a watch made for professionals if a professional (not me) could possibly refuse it as the coloring might not suite it for night work/duty. It somehow makes it more appealing to the general public, but also less appealing to me (an average watch nut)...
