Someone said to me this morning that teachers who mark their own students work (as they do in Ag Sci and Ag Ec) receive a payment for doing so.

    Is this true?

I'm nearly sure this is correct. Nearly sure our AG science gets a few quid for it

I know for ESS JC, which I am involved with as a monitor, the teachers who initially correct in their own schools get paid. It's really quite a small amount though per class group - more the price of a bottle of wine on special offer in Tesco than treat the partner to a slap up scoff in a restaurant.

The rate might be a bit higher for LC subjects.

I certainly hope they are paid for correcting state exam components.

I remember seeing a orange form a few years ago when I wasn't involved in it but I need to track it down for this year. Thanks all

Ya. And for construction studies too. They are about the only 3 I think. Before tax is roughly €3.60 per candidate. If you are entitled to it and haven't claimed yet ring the finance section of SEC and ask them to send you a form. After tax it is only a pittance but its better in your pocket. Their number will be on the website under the contacts section.
