it is for sale on a uk watch fourm that i am a member of, it has an asking price of 5,250, the owner uses claims that he uses a particular oil to avoid sludging, also that the sump has something added to prevent it as well, the abbot engineering badge says that some hp has been added, i will tell more after i look at the spiel later,

No rules have been broken. I'm guessing its stock engine wise as these can make silly power with some fiddling.

About 4 and a half years ago there was one of those for sale on adverts for 5k euro, it tempted me as I was saving for the Integra at the time but didn't have enough money at the time to properly consider it. Cool car but a bit pricey

I don't think it looks right, at all.

Debadged front grill doesn't seem to "fit"
Front bumper with vents looks daft.
Spoiler makes it look like a trolley.
Alloys don't seem to work with the shape of the car.
Car looks like it's about 40 ft long, especially in that pic biko reposted.

And I say this as someone that was seriously considering a viggen tuned saab in the not too distant past. I think myself and Graham B18c are thinking about the same one.

now guys argue away, im off.

    S

I decided to sell my black Saab 9-3 Viggen convertible!

Some may remember my recent thread in which I had asked how easy it is to import this car into the Netherlands, as I’ll be moving to Amsterdam soon.

Well I now decided to leave the black jet fighter here – quite a reluctant decision, but it’s the sensible thing to do in this situation. First of all because of possible difficulties with the Dutch import inspection/registration and last but not least because of the RHD vs LHD issue.
The 9-3 Viggen is quite an icon amongst the Saab community and beyond. It had to face some mostly “torque steer” related criticism, but this specific issue has been addressed with some simple modifications. It comes with an automatic soft top (highly reliable hydraulic motor)

This sale includes the valuable private number plate: S444B VN

As a Viggen it comes with the highest 9-3 spec available, including (for example):

    - Power seats & windows
    - Aircon
    - Cruise control
    - Cat 1 alarm system
    - Heated front seats
    - Board computer
    - Black “V” embossed leather sports seats
    - Most potent engine & multiple factory performance/handling upgrades

It’s a 2001 Viggen, hence one of the later registrations.
Mechanically it’s in a very good condition and power-wise it will most certainly put a smile on your face/ or frighten your passengers while they’re being forcefully pressed back into the black “V” embossed leather sports seats.
It’s got a fair amount of (high quality) performance and handling-related modifications, which make it really stand out in terms of driving dynamics. We’re talking about roughly 290 hp, coming from its turbocharged 2.3 litre engine. All thanks to Abbott Racing, the most renowned Saab tuner in the UK. 99% of these modifications have been carried out over the last year. Some even this spring so that the parts are in truly excellent condition.
All in all a very unique car and certainly one of the fastest/best handling 9-3 convertibles in the country. Usability hasn’t suffered of course which makes the car a really fun daily driver/ weekend toy to soak up the sun or even track tool.

Let me give you an idea of its’ modifications:

    - Abbott Racing ECU Software Upgrade, customized to all the hardware (2012)
    - Abbott Racing Full turbo-back 3" Stainless Steel performance exhaust system – with sports cat. Not too loud! (2012)
    - Abbott Racing High-Flow Aluminium Intercooler (2012)
    - Abbott Racing Stainless Steel Big Intake Pipe (2012)
    - Abbott Racing High Flow Turbo Delivery Pipe (2012)
    - Abbott Racing Polished Recirculating Dump Valve (2012)
    - Abbott Racing Red Silicone Vacuum Hoses (2012)
    - Abbott Racing Rear Anti Roll Sway Bar (2012)
    - Abbott Racing Lower and stiffer springs
    - Abbott Racing Rear Strut Brace (2012)
    - Abbott Racing Polyurethane suspension bushes (2012)
    - Abbott Racing Polyurethane suspension bushes (2012)
    - Abbott Racing Steering Rack Clamp-Bulkhead Brace (2012)
    - Abbott Racing Rear Spoiler (still got the original one)
    - MapTun Performance Big Red 4-pot Brake Kit – floating design (2013)
    - BILSTEIN B8 Sprint shocks front & rear (2013)
    - Cosworth air vent bumper upgrade (2012)
    - Cold air induction instead of foglight (no chavy open air filter cone)
    - Kenwood DVD Touchscreen radio with foot room iPhone/Pod connector (original Saab CD changer still in boot)
    - JBL Amplifier upgrade with subwoofer in boot
    - Xenon lights

Sounds like fun, doesn’t it? And it drives like that! Remember, it’s not a very bumpy ride. The Bilstein shocks are highly advanced and allow for a sporty but smooth and highly controllable drive feel. Best you test drive it yourself though!

    Current mileage: 112.000

It should be run on quality synthetic oil to prevent oil sludge. I’m using Mobil 1 5W50 without problems. Oil consumption very marginal. Comes with oil sump modification (again to prevent oil sludge).

    I’m averaging about 27-28 mpgs.

You’re welcome to subject the car to any checks you wish. As I said, it’s mechanically in a very good condition. There’s paper work and receipts for a lot, but not for many of the modifications. Feel free to call Abbott Racing though – they know the car and can tell you about it.

There are still some bad points though (I planned to address these over the course of the summer):

    - Biggest point: The airbag lamp has been coming on and off. Might be a bigger issue or something small like a connector. Will have it checked later this week.
    - Some intermittently faulty pixels in the board computer. Can be fixed by pulling the unit out and cleaning the contacts.
    - One wheel has got some curb damage. Other rims only very slight damage.
    - In conjunction with the front air vent upgrade, the front bumper was resprayed - unfortunately not a very good job, causing some bigger areas of paint to chip off. Will need a respray.
    - One slight stone chip in windshield (really small, won’t “spread”)

Other things to bear in mind:
    - Last oil change: Mar 2013 / 110.000
    - 2013 Toyo tyres with a lot of tread left
    - New original Viggen clutch: May 2012
    - Comes with original wind deflector & 5 spare litres of Mobile 1 5W50 oil.
    - Private number plate: S444B VN
    - MOT until 20.07.13
    - Tax until 25.02.14

Finally the price: £5,250 (some serious bang for the buck imho). Will also advertise this elsewhere. For more obviously :)

paddy, no it is not a car sales thread, the site is private so unreg peeps cannot see it, even if one regesters they still cannot see it, i posted some pics, i was then asked to post details of it, so i cut and pasted, also i do not know the seller or anyone belonging to him.

Removed other forum name so there can be no arguments.

No objection to these kind of threads as long as its not your car and you have a few posts so I know your not chancing your arm.
