    Good morning
So the A/C packed up last week (hardly ideal given the weather we had but alas that is a distant memory)
So got it regassed and theres no leak but theres still no cold air coming out of it.
Managed to get a friend who has a garage to plug in to see if he could detect and faults or see if there are any codes but alas no joy.
I contacted main dealer (last resort) couldn't get car in for at least a week, need it for travel to and from work.
Googled a few forums and it appears that it might be the compressor that has died.
Rang a few parts co's in dublin and part can only be got from main dealer... :(....
rang one of them after and looking at 600+vat for compressor , plus they siad condenser needs to be done at same time another 300 + vat... yikes....
any suggestions besides possibly getting rid of... < 40 k miles, 3.5 yrs old....
    Thanks in advance

It's a common issue, have you a full service history? First thing I would do is approach VW and attempt a goodwill gesture. The last 2 VAG's I owned had compressor issues at just over 2 years old and were thankfully covered by good will.

Just to chime in, i had the exact same issue on my MkVI Golf 2009.

The AC hasnt really worked for the last year (infact the air seemed warmer when i turned on the AC) its only the heat this summer that forced me to get it sorted. Turns out its the compressor is bunched (something i long suspected and was said to me here on boards) but VW are supplying the part free of charge - Still have to pay 250 for the labor/regassing but anywho. It must be a known issue as i didnt even have to push them for this goodwill gesture.
