    Tanaka v hitachiI
i was checking pole saw/ strimmer/ brushcutters combo units for doing a bit of tidying up of hedges etc.
. I had intended to get the tanaka one but the man said he had hitachi which were cheaper but made by the same company .
Any views on hitachi or tanaka slpit shaft combi units like these

Hello I bought a sthil km90 r last year I bought the Strimmer head and hedge trimmer along with the engine. I later bought the pole saw. I can honestly say it is a fantastic machine loads of power not too heavy and the attachments are heavy duty and the overall quality is class. More pricey but you get what ya pay for

The stihl looks great . Better power to weight ratio than the rest but is this worth the extra money ? . Decisions decisions eh? Is the stilhl well balanced . I have a issue with my hand and with prolonged use it weakens

I have a cheap Ryobi one. Was special offer in woodies for €199
Came with a battery start motor, a strimmer, a hedge cutting cool and a chainsaw head tool. - I find them handy and no bother in 2 years. They do still have them

Over the years I've changed all my gear to Stihl, I bought the strimmer with the saw and extension attachments last autumn and I can honestly say its the greatest thing since sliced bread! No more climbing ladders with a bushman..it's done a heap of work sometimes from a cage , it's well balanced but with the extension when you cut through a branch the weight shift can catch you unawares but not really a problem.
I got the hedgetrimmer attachment in the spring and have only used it a couple of times and find it a bit awakard and top heavy, maybe it's a case of getting used to it.
If I use the machine as a strimmer for an hour or so I find that my right hand suffers from the shakes for a while, think its more to do with the vibes than anything else , though its a heavier machine than the one I was used to.
Having said all that I wouldn't go back and as someone else said, you get what you pay for.. Good luck :)
