Lacking retail/ Hospitality experience what to do

    Hi. I'm looking for a job for the summer, and a problem that I feel is holding me back is lack of retail/ hospitality experience. I'd like to work in a shop or something, but don't have the experience and with a lot of job postings that are put up, it's a case of minium 2 year experience doing x, and I don't have this... are some places more strict than others in this regard?

    talk to the owner of a small retail business
    wear smart casual not too fashionable and see how you go
    good people will get work
