Just thinking: what happens if you're in the swimming pool when the fire alarm goes off? Can you run back and grab your clothes? Obviously you should get out of the building ASAP but going outdoors in nothing but wet swimwear (particularly in winter/at night) is also fairly dangerous...

This happened this year actually. They give you foil blankets and you leave immediately

More dangerous than being killed in a fire?!?!?!

When they tell you to leave you leave, if anybody hangs about the Managers speak with you then pass all your details to fire officer/security.....and the outccome isnt one that you want I believe!

I was walking by after this happened last week, there was loads of swimmers in foil blankets in the Llyod building trying to keep warm. But there was one girl outside who was giving out saying they kept yelling at her to get out but she was in a towel... I assume she insisted on going back for a towel and they were yelling at her!

It was all a bit mad though! I couldn't stop thinking of a fire in a Seaparks from the IT crowd. :D

    Obviously not.
But there still has to be some sort of arrangement in place - can't have people out in nothing but wet swimwear in Ireland (where the temperature could be below zero in winter). The foil blankets make sense, I hadn't thought of that.

I got caught out swimming when the fire alarm went off a couple of years ago. I wasnt offered a foil blanket then but I think we were only outside for about 5 minutes. I think it was a fault/drill/false alarm
