    Hi folks.

I have a medical card, and need to get my first extraction.

I'm going to go ahead and be sexist here :) with humour. Clearly I'm not really a Sexist dude.

But I'd prefer a male dentist to extract my tooth. I feel it'd be a quicker procedure.

Anyone know any good Dentists in South West Dublin. Male ;)

extractions are not down to strength, it's all technique!

Its not that I am sexist but.............

Its all technique, strength play no part in an extraction.

My experience with """mod edit no names please""" dentist in Tallaght has been great. Had an extraction of a wisdom tooth and it was no bother at all. You can get a male dentist there.

    .

    And?

I'm not sexist in the slightest.
I believed extractions to down to hand strength and power, and based on that I would prefer a man.

But if it is technique, well it doesn't apply.

It had better be technique -the general trend seems to be towards female dentists; in most dental schools, they outnumber males 2:1 or 3:1.
Strength and power might be an advantage if you're a vet trying to pull out a calf or a foal, but not if you're a dentist trying to pull out a tooth:D

:) thanks for that nice sum up.
I stand corrected.. Although I do have a large skull. So technically I could be compared to say a large Bull dog. Maybe a vet would be better.

& that was pulling a birthing calf or foal...I'd say most dentists, six pack& biceps notwithstanding, could still manage an animals' tooth too ;)
A pal of mine has been a dentist for over 10 years. She's under 5 foot tall, and has never once had to resort to putting her knee on any chest for an extraction, or calling for a bigger taller male colleague

She gets that reaction a lot. People usually want to lift her up& swing her around, it's a nightmare on a night out :D

    :) good for you.
But with a young smokin blonde at home.. I'm fulfilled enough without having to get kicks during medical procedures.
