I think Im going to come across like a total fool here but please bear with me, I havnt a clue about hair dye and highlights and low lights etc etc :o
I have very dark brown hair(that Ive never dyed) but Im thinking of getting it dyed lighter, I was thinking of something like the girl on the lefts hair here

And here she is again though I think the shades are slightly different

Basically just wondering how would you describe this hair colour, what would I be asking for? Is it like a light brown base colour with blonde highlights through? And in the long run would it be difficult to maintain or would it ruin my hair by being so drying?

All comments are welcome please, because tbh Im just overwhelmed by it all! :pac:

You could just bring the picture to the hairdresser with you.

But you say your hair is quite dark brown, you'd prob have to maybe lighten your base colour and then get some highlights so it all blends nicely, i'm not 100% sure but i'd say just bring the photo and ask yourself. It might be a little damaging, but if you have never dyed your hair before, it should be in good condition.

Thanks! I dont know why I didnt think to just bring in the actual picture!
Would it have to be heavily bleached before adding the light brown colour? This is my main concern that I wouldnt be slowly pushing my hair to its death

    Hi Deise,

You won't need a full on bleach for the look your going for, what they will prob do is put in a mixture of blonde and lighter brown highlights so there will still be a lot of your natural colour visible, definately the first time you get it done anyway. All the colours would blend then like the girl in the photo so you should avoid any stripey look.

Def bring the photo with you, hairdresser knows what your looking for if they can see it rather than trying to imagine it!
