New battery not charging

So I got a new batter for my phone, which is a Sony Xperia x10i, it's an old enough phone, and gets used a lot, the original battery which was 1500mAh won't hold much of a charge so i decided to get a new one, which is 3500mAh, however it won't charge, I've gone to a few places and getting the reply "it's not our problem" Doesn't really help

So could you guys help me out? What could it be?

Here's the battery if it's any use http://www.tmart.com/3500mAh-Extended-Battery-with-Battery-Cover-for-Sony-Ericsson-Xperia-X10_p124947.html

Did you leave it in overnight?
Sometimes it'll take up to 30 mins before the charge kicks in and the light comes on.
If this still doesn't happen after a few hours, return the battery to seller.

Are you sure you removed the plastic film covering the contacts?

Sounds stupid, but it actually happened to me when I bought a spare battery for my S3 - I even contacted the seller to tell them the battery wouldn't charge!

Nope, there is no film on the contacts to begin with, they sent me an email looking for the customs number and the model number of my phone, both of which I've no idea where they are, well, I've a fair idea but I'm not 100% sure
