    Hi,

Can anyone recommend (or plug themselves) a video production company that specialises in animated videos and can do a two minute promo-video like the following: https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=O1VkAyZdq98

I work for an established web agency in Dublin and have worked with a couple of agencies in the past, but this type of work comes in so rarely that we are often unprepared when it comes to pricing & getting a spec of the client.

We'd like a production company who can give us some guidance on costs & the process of specing out a video.

Pm me or leave a comment if you think you can help.

    K Rgds,
    C

I've found a useful rule of thumb - and this is very ballpark - for decent quality professional video is starting around $1,000 per produced minute. Script writing and voiceover on top of that. I've gotten quotes as much as $10,000 for 60 seconds, and as low as $300 for lower quality animations that wouldn't be suitable as a sales video. I would expect to spend at least $4-8k for that Grasshopper example you showed, easily twice that if there are multiple revisions at any stage, or simply if it's a more established provider.

The process will involve initial storyboarding, writing the script, getting voiceover(s), static mockups, video production, and possible more depending on the provider and what you're looking for. Check out the video on www.selfassemblysites.com for another example.

Use the search keywords "explainer video" as a good place to start looking.

    YMMV. HTH.

A good point. I hope there are some more options locally now - all my prices above are USD because we simply couldn't find an Irish provider who could do a video that was optimised for sales.

I know this is not exactly what you are looking for but it worth a look. Its not expensive and as far as I know its an irish company. http://www.videocrisp.com/

Not sure what kind of budget you have but looking at the sample you linked I'd imagine whilst not the most complex thing in the world it was still quite expensive to have done.
You could create your own animated video at http://www.xtranormal.com/ . Not Irish unfortunately:(
As far as I remember it is free to sign up but you got to buy some credits for about 10 dollars down the road if you continue to use it.
You won't get the quality you are looking for in the sample you outlined but before spending big money on high production it might be no harm to do a bit of test marketing by creating xtranormal vids.
Also might quicken up the process of storyboard creation down the road when you opt to get high production animation done as they will have something to work with all be it nothing like what you will end up getting.

Thanks a million for all of your responses, was very helpful!

These prices of the order of a professionally developed website, which is understandable.

It is also not as easy to quantify the return from a video as it is from a website...

Is there anyone here who has had experience of producing & publicising a sales video? What were the negative & positive results?

Sorry this is a reply to an earlier question but I'm late looking at this thread.

    Look at
    http://www.brandnewproductions.com/index.html
an Irish company used to dealing with agencies etc.

When pricing this work, bear in mind that it's once off manufacturing, therefore very expensive because its bespoke.

Brand New Productions have a stellar client list, and are good sales guys themselves, so they could help you.

Also they have a service called ''Telestration'' which is multiple whiteboards / sort of animation / can't explain any more its a visual thing. This tends to be a lot cheaper than traditional ''video''. You can see examples of this at

    http://www.brandnewproductions.com/telestration.html

Disclosure - I know Barry from Brand New and found him to be reliable and professional.
