Just finished building my chicken run after a fox carried my first three hens last week so I need to get things right before buying more. So I built a 12' x 8' run that Im fitting onto a 12" concrete surround. The wood has been treated but still waiting to get the wiring. Someone told me to get dpc plastic to put under the wooden frames before bolting it down into the concrete.

Any other tips and idea's would be very welcome

Well I put a concrete trench a foot down all around and the top will also be netted

Important to net the top as well.... I have my birds a 12ft x 5ft run..... Not sure if I should cover the roof with corrugated steel though.....

See if you can get 8' x 4' sheets of expanded metal with 1" x 1" squares in the mesh. It'll keep out everything from adult rats upwards. Live catch traps for mink & rats would be made of similar sized mesh.
