Counselling Psychologists not eligible to work for HSE

    Hi Folks

Recently I discovered that Registered Counselling Psychologists who gained their registration via the pre 2009 route, eg postgraduate qualification plus 4 yrs of supervised experience, are not eligible to work for the HSE until they get their qualifications validated by the PSI via the Department of Health, for a fee of €500. This seems strange since in order to get registration with the PSI their qualifications have already been scrutinized by the MQRS for a fee of €150. I was just wondering if there are any counselling psychologists out there who have been affected by this.
