The aim of the Dyslexia/Dyspraxia summer camp is to introduce students to the benefits of AT, study skills, college life and get them to interact with sports. There will also be an opportunity for parents to see AT in action and how they can help their child get more involved.

Dublin: 24th of July – 26th of July – UCD
Cork: 14th of August – 16th of August – UCC

    What it is?
A 3 day camp aimed at students from 12- 16 years who have specific learning difficulties
An overview of how to use Assistive Technology to enable learning
Opportunity to interact with peers through sports & activities
Guest speakers discussing college life, study skills & More
    Activities Include
    Read & Write Gold software
    Dragon Naturally Speaking software
    Inspiration – Mind Mapping software
    Using “Smart” Technology to learn
UrAbility.com founders James Northridge and Gerard Gallagher will be on hand, as well as a number of specialist AT teachers and sports coaches. Our experience is that AT is a major boost to students’ self-confidence and learning. This summer camp is an opportunity to share our expertise and allow students to Embrace their Ability.

In addition to camp activities, there will be a parent session on the Friday afternoon giving an overview of the AT landscape, how you can help your child success in education.

We will have guest speakers over the three days to highlight that disability is not a barrier to success.

It was so much easier to blame it on Them. It was bleakly depressing to think that They were Us. If it was Them, then nothing was anyone's fault. If it was us, what did that make Me? After all, I'm one of Us. I must be. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things.
