How much does it cost ?
Who's responsible for loss or damage's?
What happens if your herd gets locked up with tb while you have the leased cows on your farm?

I suppose teagasc would be a start they could point you in the right direction.

We have leased cows in and out.
If for example I lease in cows I treat as my own ie ai and Feed as would my own. Cow owner may specify bull type to be used.
It really needs to be done after you are satisfied that the other party is not a messer. We have cows leased in at the moment and will return to owner at drying off. They arrived on May 1 and were all calved and up and running. We are working on the assumption that they will milk 4k till drying off and pay on that basis. We have the recording to check if there is a major difference.
We are fortunate that we are in an almost no quota situation.
Regarding losses the owner takes the hit.
If you get locked up the usual rules apply.
Do NOT contact Dept as they will not have a clue what your talking about and will give you the usual bio security lines.

We leased from a guy we know well who has a very wet farm and needed to reduce stocking rate this year to rejuvenate his pastures.

What are the rates for leasing? Sounds like a hassle free way of dairy farming:)
If you were to lease a complete herd, no wintering or calving.

I wouldn't call anything yet. Weather broke for a while. There is a lot left in the game yet.
We sent a lot of calved heifers and cows to the UK in feb and March so I happy with the decision so far.
We have a guy looking for stock in the autumn aswell, so will review at that stage.
