    Hi
I have a Galaxy S2 that got submerged in water about 6 weeks ago

It was only in for a few seconds and after drying it out for a day all seemed fine, except for one thing, it would no longer charge.
When the charger was plugged in nothing happened on the phone, no indication of charging at all.

I left it be for about 6 weeks and a few days ago charged the battery fully using a friends S2.
Now when I plug in the charger it actually now indivcted that it is charging, even though it is not (it eventually ran down) , and even when I unplug the charger it still indicated that it is cahrging. Anoter side effect is that it will not power off, when I try to power it off it just reboots and comes back on.

On another site I read that all the above may be a problem with the USB port on the S2 and that it should be cleaned with alcohol.

Has anyone had similar problems. ?

Does anyone know how to clean the USB port and what I could buy off the shelf to do it. ?

Over the six weeks the phone has sufficiently dried out to now 'indicate' that it is charging, and I really hope that this is a sign that it is being nursed back to full health.

I've had this with my s2 for the last week aswell although mine has no water damage. phone doesn't turn off only reboots when I try.
Also when it reboots it won't actually turn on, the loading circle comes on the screen and then the battery charging icon pops up even though it's not connected and the only way to fix it is to hold the power, home and volume up buttons and restart device that way.

I've no idea what's wrong with it but it's absolutely head wrecking

I had a similar problem with my Galaxy S2 after a water related incident.

It's a bit of a lottery with water damage but you might be able to get your phone working again by cleaning off some of the corrosion.

If none of the water damage sensors are activated try returning it to samsung!

In my case corrosion on the charging port was causing the problem. I managed to clean it off with a piece of a match and a small stiff brush. If you feel comfortable taking it apart you can check for corrosion on any of the boards. The charging circuit is on the right of the battery.

Thanks for that, at the moment it is spending it's second night of seven in a sealed container full of rice to see if it can dry out any bit more.
Once that is done I will take it apart and look at the charging circuit as you advise.
