    Work out the units of N applied per acre. Grass uses about 2 per day.
    That will tell you when it should be used.

    MCPA spray should deal with the rushes, not sure about the buttercup.

    average about 2.5 bags to the acre.
    would it be ok to spray straight away after applying the fertilizer? or would you have to wait?

    It would be okay to spray right away. I'd say MCPA would kill buttercups but maybe it would be better to ensile them and spray next time; check with your supplier. I find cattle prefer buttercup to grass.

    Had similar q on other thread. My recently acquired knowledge says 2.5 bags of 18-6-12 contains:
    18x2.5 =45 units of nitrogen
    Ground takes in conservatively say 2 units per day so in theory after 22.5 days all nitrogen should be gone. Say 25 days to be sure. Correct me if im wrong please.

    18-6-12 is 18 nitrogen 6 phosphate 12 potassium.

    N-P-K

    im just after reading that thread, a great one with good answers. yeah that should do the trick for me so. the ground is growing very well lately so i should be on track for a good crop in 20 odd days weather dependant.

    Ignoring the maths don't cut if it's still growing well even after the 25days get your moneys worth out of your fertilizer
