New graphics card

Hopefully someone can steer me in the right direction here, I'm a bit out of my depth.

I've caved in a bought a new monitor (qnix qx2710 2560 x 1440....) so I need to upgrade my gpu from the current 7770.

I have
I7-3770 3.4ghz
16 gb ram
Asrock z77 pro4m
600 watt power supply.

Not sure what else is relevant, don't have a ssd.

I was looking at the 7950 and 7970. Not sure if the power supply limits my options but not looking to change that.

I was looking at the power colour radeon hd 7970 at aria.co.uk for £300. Are there large differences in the various 7970s available. Any other suggestions will be welcome.

What will you be using the monitor for? Honestly, for 1440p gaming, you'll need SLI/Crossfire. What make/model is your PSU? Quality> quantity when it comes to PSUs.

I have no idea of the psu make to be honest. Bought the pc from eBay and got a number of upgrades added including this

Games I play most often are fifa and some racing games.

The motherboard has no sli support and crossfire has it's problems so it will have to be a single card. I think the 7970 is a very good choice. You can get very playable frame rates at 2560x1440 once you don't set anti anti aliasing too high. There are 2 versions the standard 7970 and the GHZ Edition. The GHZ edition comes overclocked but you can save money and get the standard version then overclock yourself. The only other difference is some makes have better cooling than others. Just check out reviews before baying and it should give you a good idea of what the card is like.

The 7970 should be more than fine if its only FIFA and racing games being played.

PSU look of fairly dubious build quality so i would consider a change TBH.

It has only a 34A 12V rail which is equal to 408W. It is probably horrendously inefficent as well. You'd probably be far better off in the long run with a quality branded 450W unit.

Nice choices, although there is a great deal on the XFX HD7950 at the moment (2 left). It a only a little over 2/3 the price for close for 9/10ths of the performance of teh HD7970. Pretty much pays for the PSU.

You mean dual-link DVI?, if so it has two such ports.
