A paramedic from Letterkenny saves mans life on Etihad flight.

    http://newstalk.ie/Donegal-man-saves-a-mans-life-in-midair

Thought we needed a bit of a neutraliser about Irish people abroad after the post with the racist man on the train yesterday. If nothing it proves that everyone is an individual and it helps relieve some of the shame of having that knobgobbler representing us badly.

Also, sometimes nice to have a feelgood story on AH. Happy sunny Friday.

In AH fashion, how can a paramedic (ambulance man) afford to fly first class with Etihad to Dubai??

I should clarify, this story was in the indo a day or two ago and it stated that the paramedic, who was in first class, gave the man his bed/seat in first class once he'd been revived.

"Gerry McGowan, a trained paramedic based in Letterkenny, noticed some commotion on the flight and discovered a man had gone into cardiac arrest."

Thank fuck our paramedics are trained these days.

Judging by this photo in the Donegal Democrat he has been on CrimeCall.

Looks like he appeared in an old Super Nintendo game.

Will you link that more detailed version if you can find it. Wasn't the flight from abu dhabi to Bangkok? Anyway who knows how he was flying first class. Gift, lucky upgrade, air miles upgrade, maybe he won the Thai lotto.

Gerry received a reward of 25,000 air miles from Etihad Airlines.

Must say that was quite nice of the airline as well. I've read of a story once, where an airline tried to charge a doctor for use of equipment after aiding someone mid flight.

Why is him being in first class the thing people focus on?
Saving a mans life not worth talking about.
    Top class Irish begrudgery
    Lovely weather today.

It's mentioned in the second article linked to, in the article linked in the OP.

Where does it say he was in first class? They don't have blast doors between classes you know.

Why in hell does him being in 1st class matter?

The guy is a hero, lets talk about that instead.

I'd have to double-check, but I believe that is none of our **** business.

I'll go out on a limb and say he probably didn't steal the money.:)

    They should.
God damned middle classes trying to interrupt me snorting caviar off the air stewardesses thighs.

I feel a bit bad for all the doctors, firemen and paramedics reading this thinking how they do that every day but this lucky bugger is a hero because he did it off-duty.

I don't think they mind. The word hero is completely worn out these days anyway and has lost any value. I'm sure they just think he did 'em proud. As he did.

I think it may have been tongue in cheek.
