Sad to hear it but a mate had an S3 stolen a few months ago (Not far from Stillorgan) that was subsequently used in a post office robbery.

Thanks so much Bohrio, wasn't sure the images worked or not. Ironclaw, yeah, one of the Guards thought it might have been targeted, discreet but powerful enough car. Weird thing is we interrupted him mid robbery, and he strolled out of the house, got into without breaking into and drove off in the car with no key, can't make sense of it at all but I'm guessing he had some sort of a master key type device, appreciate everyone keeping an eye out anyway, could be burnt out by now, who knows. Depressing though, pride and joy for 7 years and then some toerag is off with it in 10 seconds

Ah jesus MM. :( bloody scumbags  FWIW I'll keep an eye out too Stuck pic and reg onto my phone. I'd try all the Irish car forums you can, they have recovered cars before. Fingers crossed.

Though most seem to feel newer cars with the built in immobolisers linked to the key are unstealable unless they gain access to the keys in a burglary(and rely on that and the basic inbuilt alarm), more and more this looks not to be the case. BMW had a serious and public issue last year where a load of cars were taken without the keys in the UK and the US. BMW in their PR response noted that it was an issue that affected many marques and they were only highlighted because they are a prestige marque. Nice avoidance, but does show there appears to be an exploitable weakness in some of these systems. I personally know of two guys who had such equipped cars stolen by scum(one BMW, one Merc, both around mid noughties in age). If there is such a weakness it makes it easier in some ways than the old days, because such a method is very repeatable, once the scum figure it out. That's the pro scum, if the methods filter down to the "joyriding" scum...

That said am I wrong in what passes for my memory or do Audis have a spare "valet" key in the glovebox? IIRC that can start the car. I'd defo not leave it in the car anyway.

Personally I'd always add an aftermarket high end alarm and secondary immobolisation to any car I owned and if the beer tokens stretched to it, I'd add in something like the "anti hijack" Blackjax system from Clifford and if the beer tokens really stretched to it I'd add a tracking system too so even if they get the keys they won't get far and you'll know where the car is located when it conks out on them. The cost of such is coming down yearly too.

Still utter lowlife, like you say pride and joy taken like that. I have no problem saying I'd birch car thieves(and burglars) and cut a hand off for a second conviction.:mad:

Wow, surprised to hear that about the Beemers and Mercs, I was sure they were more or less unstealable without keys, obviously not.
Will definitely look into a tracker next time, expensive, yes, but well worth it really, thanks for all the words of support from everyone anyway

Anything else you could tell us about the car, e.g., does it have dealership stickers/staff parking discs or anything?

Just in case it's parked up in the open somewhere.

Or underground car parks and industrial estates are other places. It's unlikely joyriders took it I'd imagine, the more "pro" scum will often leave a car out in the open as Hulla said as the higher end stuff is more likely to have a tracker fitted these days so they wait to see if it's traced.

Check with the toll operators to see if it was caught going through, check out the local industrial estates, Blanch/Liffey Valley SC (free parking) etc

Will keep an eye out as I'm in the D18 area every day anyway

Car was taken at 4.45am. I'll have a look around some industrial estates tomorrow, going opinion seems to be that they'll hide it away in an underground car park for a few days if anything is planned for it. No toll Fastpass type things on it but hadn't thought of checking with the toll crowd, good thinking.

No dealer stickers at all, one work car park sticker on the front windscreen, a number inside a cloud. Other distinguishing marks, genuine S3 spoiler as mentioned and debadged which is unusual I guess, only the Audi logo on the back, no model or engine badges, (as per photo) small scuff to the left of the rear numberplate where I scraped a pedal from a bike rack. Possibly hard to see from outside but I had TT pedals fitted (aluminium effect)

The tax disc holder is a part of the handsfree aerial, (as seen in photo 1) so thats tucked down in the passenger side lower corner of the windscreen.

Interior is dark grey striped recaro style sports seats, armrest....thats about it, I liked keeping it as clean/simple as possible.

Car isn't as clean as the photos anymore-that was when she was my brand new baby :-(

Thanks again for everyones answers and ideas, much appreciated
