    http://www.independent.ie/irish-news/ahoy-star-wars-ships-buoy-up-navy-29324232.html

I see the Irish Navy is to get 2 new ships, according to the Irish Independent. As yet they are unnamed so, following the time honoured tradition of using a female name, I think one of them should be called the LE Angela after our country's leader, Frau Merkel.

Also in time honoured tradition what would After Hours call the other boat?

The Irish Navy is actually quite busy patrolling our coastline and does great work intercepting drug runners, clamping down on illegal fishing, etc. They're well entitled to their dinner imo. Great that they're getting two new and modern ships.

Wasn't LE Róisín named after the defence minister's daughter who happened to have had a suitable gaelic name?

As much as I usually enjoy lampooning the living scheisser out of this sort of thing, I suggest, in keeping with tradition, LE Danu and LE Gormflaith.

Until drones know how to hand-cuff a drug smuggler, we will still need ships :D

If I was a smartass I'd say the drones are all in the FCA/RDF.

    But I'm not so I won't say that. :p

If you add the word FACT in cap letters no matter what you say it is true and cant be argued with and you need no data to back up what you are saying.

    2 points to make.

    1. We don't have a Navy. We have a Naval Service.
    2. Don't know where people are getting the idea that naval officers go home for their dinner everyday. They're usually at sea 3 weeks at a time.

If they do get the ScanEagle UAV, it'll really help out for doing searches at sea for missing people, or for doing recce on trawlers in our exclusion zone. Way to go Dept Defence!
