Parts for Giant front hub motor?

Has anybody come across a source for parts for a Giant hub motor? I have a 'Twist Express RS2' with worn out gears in the hub motor and Giant only want to sell me a whole new wheel. Do bike shops just chuck out failed e-bike wheels?
