legally reclaiming land

There is a half acre site which my granduncle got over 30 years ago and fenced off but never built on.
This land is now in an exclusion area so there will never be a house built on it.
My granduncle subsequently died and the site got left between his three kids who i've never met and have never been to the farm.
The concrete post and barbed wire is falling apart and last year i started grazing cattle in it as the long grass was creating a vermin issue.
Is there any process whereby i can reclaim the land legally as it is only going to waste the way it is?
(and no, i'm not a land grabber..., i just hate to see it going to waste)

No land grabbing going on at all. You just want to use someone else's land, and then take ownership of it as well.

    Can't see who'd have a problem with that. !!

Exactly, land grabbing by another name - and within a family!!

    Thread very very carefully.

Why not make them an offer for it, if they have no ties with the place and it can never be built on it shouldn't be huge money and i'm sure they'd be delighted to get something for it, then you've legally done your part so no come back?

Was it ever transferred, is it marked off your maps,he mightn't have bothered and if it is transferred, be straight about it, contact the owners and try to work out something

Or don't worry about it , let yr stock graze it when they're in adjacent field anyway,if the distant cousins come looking for it let them fence it ...

I wasn't really advocating that..! Don't you have to fence and gate it for 9 years (?) before you can apply for squatters rights ? Just letting yr cattle graze it a few times a year wouldn't count , ?or would it :) .... How much of a ploteen are we talking about anyhow .... ?
