I somehow posted this on modified cars by mistake. Meant to put it here. Mods, can you delete the other one?

I recently bought an Alfa 159 and I wanna change the crappy single CD player to a decent Bluetooth unit.

    My requirements are:
USB port with HDD compatibility (not just memory stick). Rear port also if possible.
    Bluetooth
    MP3 AND WMA compatible
    Red illumination

    My wishlist is:
    Touchscreen
    GPS
Android compatible (or running android if touchscreen would be perfect)
    CHEAP

I've no idea what the current ecosystem is as far as car stereos go as I've always just bought simple single DIN CD/MP3 Radios (Clarion, Pioneer, Kenwood, Alpine).
What are the cheap touchscreens like? I saw one in a taxi lately and he reckoned it was great as he could watch a film while waiting for fares at night. I'm no audiophile but I do want decent radio reception so a good radio tuner is important.
Do they run android so I could install NavFree or something?
Do they even come with GPS antennaes?

    All info gratefully received.

    Cheers.

Probably best to have a look at the parrot asteroid units. I think they'll do everything you need listed above.

Thanks for that. The one with Nav is pretty pricey though and the cheaper ones don't have the Play store on it to install a Nav app.

Any opinions on the generic 7" touchscreens cluttering up eBay lately?

You get what you pay for. This chinese units are poor in quality and sound processing but will have tons of features.
The Parrot is overpriced and average at best.
Personally I would go with Alpine and the likes. They do have good products for 250-350.
But for a more complete product with Alpine etc you are looking at 500-900 euros.
Plenty of choice, it is down to budget really. Personally I would rather save up for a few months for a nice unit instead of throwing money to the chinese sea.

Asteroid Smart looks really cool. Better spending 500 odd quid now then wasting money on a crap unit and having to pay again.

Price is what you pay, quality is what you get!

Personally I'd love to just get a 7" android tablet with canbus connectivity. That would tick all my boxes. Don't need CD player.

Anyone have any ideas where to read up on that kinda thing? It could be my summer project...

If you were interested in doing something like that, this video might be useful for you. I love these guys, their videos are very funny and they're genuinely very talented. They tend to work on older cheapo cars though and aren't afraid to hack things up a bit for a laugh.
