    Hi

I want to get myself a new camera and I've been considering the 60D for a while now .

I have the money to buy one but I have heard that the successor (70D) will be coming out this August .

I have no problem waiting but I'm probably going to buy a 60D anyway when the 70D comes out due to it having a high release date price .

My question is will the 60D go down much it price and will it depreciate heavily after the 70D release (Will it still be worth €400-500 in 2-3 years time )

    Thanks

Basically depends on how much the 70D costs and how much better it is than the 60. SLR's are usually much better than most electronic items at holding their value and they typically plateau after a while top!

Hmmmmmm I might wait so .

It's only three months and maybe I'll save €€€

    Thanks

Would imagine a drop of over 100 would be unlikely, depends on how much you value your time waiting :)

Its a nice camera all the same, had one for about 18 months. found dynamic range, low light performance and light metering to be a slight disappointment. That said i cant compare it with the competition. Colour reproduction is good too. Took several of my best shots with it...

Cant see 60D dropping price that much, its pritty cheap second hand as it is, you can get for around 500e.
As far as i know there should be annoucement of 70D mid july.

Waiting for it myself, but if its going to be over 1k for body as per rumors, going to get 5D mk2 as really dont see myself spending that much money for it.knowing canon they probably going to make a mess with new sensor as usuall...

If a 5D mkII is within your budget get it. Its missing some of the fancy gizmos the 70D is likely to have, wifi, gps etc but its a full frame which the 70D is almost guarenteed not to be. If your end goal ultimately is image quality the 5D mkII is the one to go for. I know that sound like Im speculating as the 70D specs havent been revealed, but after making the full frame switch about a year ago I can assure you its worth it.

A 5D mk ii is out of my price range .

Maybe in a few years but for now I just want a mid range DSLR .

I can wait for the 70D and maybe 60D's will be selling cheaper when they are being discontinued .

Going rate for a 60D seems to be 750. You could pick up a second hand 5d mkII for 1000 these days. It really is worth the extra. Just my 2 cents.

    I really can't stretch to €1000 .

I will end up getting a full frame in the future though.
