    HELP!!!
I graduated last year from NUIM with a 2.1 B.A in English and Medieval Irish & Celtic Studies. At the moment I'm on a JobBridge Internship, which I hate! Was hoping to find in a job in my discipline, but don't think that's going to happen anytime soon! So am now seriously thinking of Primary Teaching. I would greatly appreciate any advice, tips etc. Thanks!! :-)

You could do one of the conversion MA's? They're half price, no? Get some technical, practical skills. For example: http://graduatestudies.nuim.ie/prospective-postgrads/taught-courses/skills-conversion-courses

I'm sure the other universities have similar programs, for people with degrees looking for a HDip/MA in a different field. You could also go talk to the careers people where you went to college, or the academic advisory office, who might have an idea.

Anyway, I thought for Primary school teaching you needed to be really good at Irish? (Not that I know what I'm talking about... so don't take my word for anything)

EDIT: Hah, just got a mail, you could take the day off work and pop down to the Gradireland Careers Fair thing in the RDS on the 12th? Not sure if those things are good or not, but they seem to have two or three a year.

Hi mickstupp thanks for your reply and help! It's been awhile since I did Irish but I did get an honour in higher level so I would be eligible. I picked up a few Irish books whilst in my local St Vincent de Paul, no harm in brushing up my Gailge!! Oh hopefully things will work out!

Moved to Teaching and Lecturing for some insight.

Hasn't Froebel/Sion Hill moved to Maynooth? Given the competition for places in teacher training, it may stand to your credit that you're an alumnus if you try for primary there.
