Commuting and marathon training

    Hi,

I have been cycling to work for the last 7 years on and off. I have been making more of an effort over the last 3 years with a minimum of 3 days cycling to and from work. Recently I have managed 5 days a week.

It's 8 miles each way. I'm using a mountain bike to commute. My fastest commute has been 25min. Usually takes a bit longer on the way home.

I used to try and ignore my commute when marathon training but I think it was causing me to breakdown (or helping me to break down).

Can I subtract some running mileage when commuting?

    Any thoughts?

    Thanks.

Cycle in to work, run home.
    Run into work, cycle home.
Cycle into work, cycle home (or running session).

    Happy days.
