Red light has come on on dash and temp guage gone up. What could it be? It is not low in engine oil or hydraulic oil. The light is on from start up.

I think I might have it solved... rad hose appears to be leaking ....

I should have took a pic when was in yard yester evening. At work now. It is over to the right and looks like a tear drop as far as I remember.... sure must be low water level  Oh I'm a pleb. Thank God haven't been over using it since light came on...

I must try get my hands on a manual for mine. Going changing the engine oil and filter over the weekend if get a chance. 10W30 does the engine and backend AFAIK

Probably be tomorrow realistically before I get round to looking at it. Hopefully with a bit of time, I'I get it sorted. Hate little annoying things like that... Thanks God they are few and far between with this tractor

one on the left is engine oil pressure... ine on the right is brake fluid hth

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,174 ✭✭✭✭Muckit

OK two separate issues... after a bit of further investigating I'm coming to the conclusion that it could be two separate problems. The overheating is due to a crack not in the main radiator hose but in one of the heater hoses sandwiched between the diesel tank and the cab behind the LH step. Finding the problem will be easier than trying to solve it :o Prob have to drop the tank to get at it right. Will be a h**r if I have to replace hose as it goes up the inside of the pillar to the top of the cab!

The light that stay on is the one on the right. The one on the far left is oil pressure isn't it? It goes out after a few seconds. So not a faulty pressure switch. I have a manual ordered, but in the meantime anyone any idea what this light could be?? It came on after I was powerhosing the tractor a few weeks ago. I thought it might be water in some connectors but any moisture should be long gone by now... wrecking my head. Will prob have to give in and give it to mechanic...

As for the oil issue, I'm not going to argue the toss with Stan or Nashmach. 15W40 def a better oil if you are putting in the hours. But cold winter startups and only running for few minutes to throw in a few grabs a day.... hmmm

    is it actually overheating?

The needle went up the other evening until I spotted that it was loosing a drop of water from that hose I mentioned near the step. It's not overheating once water is topped up.

Ya I must try locate that sensor and see what the crack is. Where is the reservoir for the brake fluid?

Those hoses are going to the heater radiator

If air con is fitted be very careful not to open one of the ac pipes going up into the cab, very dangerous and the cost of refilling, they look similar to those heater pipes. The light is low brake fluid again be careful what fluid you put in the wrong one fecks up the seals, next thing you know the two back axels are off, get it in the main dealers. On the engine oil if its still in warrenty using the wrong oil voids it.

If your handy at doing the seals in the master cylinders you could give it a try:D not a job I fancy, easier to get the right oil ;)

Where is this brake fluid reservoir? Is it near the power steering fluid reservoir? I've been looking through the New Holland parts database and nothing is coming up for a brake fluid reservoir or diagrams of same. http://partstore.agriculture.newholland.com/us/parts-search.html#epc::mr56366

If you could help me out I'd be very much obliged

You can look up the correct grades of oil, brake fluid etc for your TD series new holland at this site http://www.flitalia.it/en/agricoltura/ambra/content/view/1/16/ .

we had to do the seals on our master cylinder, the brake fluid wasnt the right one, afaik there is a specific one will get spec off it later , have it in tractor

Got the oil in main dealers, LHM as newhollandmad said. €8. Also thanks Whelan1 for diagnosing what light meant! And everyone else for help. This forum is great for helping solve those small little problems ;)

The tank is stuck in under the cab at the back on the LHS for future use if anyone is looking for it! ;)
