Folks, was just wondering what price roughly would a ram be, thinking about making a home made front loader bale handler.

I made up one last summer, back when I had loads of spare time! I used an old silage grab (one of the 4 prong jobs with a single ram in the middle), the ram on this worked perfect to convert it into a bale handler. The steel needed was only afew ft of 4inch box section, and then for the rollers over the tinges etc etc. Drilling the holes for the tinges etc had to be done at by the local engineering shop. It works fine, but to be honest other than I had the silage grab there with most the parts, it most certainly would not have been worth while. Especially when the new ones can be got for this sort of money: http://www.donedeal.ie/for-sale/silagegrabs/4615192

Cheers for that. I have access to all equipment required and majority of steel so will plough ahead with it anyway. Was looking along the lines of the handler with two rollers/ spikes. but thanks anyway
