May not be worth a thread of its own, Mods feel free to lock it.

Just got a mail from Taylor Made, apparently the R1 is now available in black. Photos look stunning. Actually looks a bit like a R9 now that I think about it !

Can't decide if its a marketing hit or miss from TMaG.............

That sounds vile. Is this just outlandish internet rumour or is there any truth to it ?

A black driver would be impossible to hit. The ball would look too small, it would be impossible to aim, the glare would be intolerable, how in hell would you align it correctly, it would absorb more energy from the sun that would disturb its temperature stability. Madness I tells you. It will never catch on.

Drivers are white. Always have been. Always will be.

Wow - that looks amazing. A really ground breaking design, can't wait to see one in the flesh.

Good to see TM catering for the non single figures market.

So I was just out in a golf shop in Blanchardstown and they have 6 or 8 of the black R1 in stock. Weirdest thing, the little Taylor Made logo on the crown looks like its about 2 or 3mm too close to the hosel, bizarre ! Put it down side by side with the white one and the logo is definitely (to my eye at least) more centred on the white one. Wonder if that's the same with them all or if the quality control were having an off day in TM.

Must admit to being a little underwhelmed with the black, I thought/expected I'd like the look of it a lot more, but I'd actually almost prefer the white.:)

Paul Lawrie was saying that the Pro's sponsored by Taylor Made in Europe were not allowed to use the Black version yet when he as over at the Irish Open?

Clarke had the black in play at the Irish Open 100%. Most of the pros using the new SLDR driver now.
