Any know if Andrew Balding's stable would be considered a 'gambling stable'?

I wouldn't think so. He always seems to come across as a bit of a "goody-two-shoes", unless it's all an act ;)

Thanks Harry, I wouldn't have though so myself.

Just saw one of his was shortened by 4 bookies for the royal hunt cup - from 25's to 16's for two of them - but haven't seen or heard anything that would warrant a move...

    Without a doubt.

Most owners do get their day eventually afterall.

Top stables associated with nice touches lately that I have noticed are Ellison, O Meara and Jo Hughes.

that was the only way back in the day that a trainer could pay the bills.

He used to be, gave up a few years ago after they had their bollix on Ballinger Ridge in a race at Lingfield. I was called up to ride it, we almost pulled it off but in the end the horse just didn't stay and despite my best efforts the fav got up on the line to deny us the money.

All in all it was just unlucky, on another day we might have held on.......tbh I think it was just badly handicapped, as I said to Andrew after the race, "Next time you try to land a few quid make sure you have a good 10lbs in hand, not 2!!!"

    :pac:

Into 8/1 favourite - had a small nibble when at 25/1 but plenty short now.

Also jumped on the Educate bandwagon when Jimjam and Rossom put him up at the start of the month at 20 - now that pricewise has tipped him he's into second favourite.

I know that you could make cases for many more of them but think Sweet Lighting could run a nice race for JP Murtagh - his first runner as a trainer. Caries a hefty weight but Luke Dempsey takes 7 pounds off him and ideal draw out in 29 (30 runners)
