Fancy a change

    Folks,

I have a 2004 Audi A4 130 bhp, I've owned the car for just over 3 three years now and I just fancy changing the car

I'm thinking about buying a mk4 vw golf highline, some lovely unmodifed models do appear on donedeal from time to time with 3 door, sunroof, sport seats, 15'' genuine alloys etc etc.

Thing is I dont want to spend any money :D I reckon my car is worth about €4000? it has full leather, 6 speed, 130 bhp, FSH etc. and I could purchase a good clean model mk4 for this amount of money or less,

Any thoughts on this anyone or would I just be as well to hold on to the A4?
Would the MK4 highline golf be better/ nicer car overall compared to the A4? even though I'm bored to pieces of it and would just really love a car with a sunroof in it coming into summer time :pac:

If you're that bored of the Audi, would you not be better off buying something that isn't part of the VAG family to shake things up a bit?

Full disclosure; Golfs bore me to tears so I'm a little biased but still, maybe broaden your search.

If your bored of an A4 then a MkIV Golf will hardly set the pulse racing. I would see it as a step down.

I'd agree with Bazz.. an A4 to a Golf would seem like a step backwards.

    Maybe a 3 series?

What mileage is on the A4? Did you price similar cars on DD?
It is a step backwards imo also and it will cost you money to change your car, being realistic.
First off you have to sell your own. Otherwise a trade in will cost you money.
I would prepare to spend or else prepare to downgrade.

    Thanks for the replies,

Ha yeah maybe it was a mad notion.

I just really like VW/Audi cars it is just my personal opinion though

Think I will hold into the A4 for another while,

I just would love to have a bit more 'sporty' car, 3 doors, hatchback sunroof etc. I do a lot of miles so it has to be a diesel unfortunately.

Think I'll try now and save up another bit for a mk 6 GTD 😄

My heart is kind of set on a golf

Would it still be a come down from B6 a4 ?

Unless you are talking about a Golf GTi then I just don't see a Golf as being sporty.

I do 22 to 25k miles per year, would not make economic sense unfortunately,

    Well put it this way...

    I just went the opposite way.. from a B6 (2006) Passat to a C6 (2005) A6

Had the Passat 5 years, loved it, never gave me any problems and did just under 200,000km in it all over the place.

But there's no comparing it to the A6 - far higher quality interior.. even the doors sound reassuringly "clunky" :)
