I heard this on mat cooper show earlier. Mercedes are to use QR code placed inside fuel filler to aid emergency services when they arrive at accident and need to cut car. Scanning the code will take you straight to mercedes website with diagrams and all details needed by fire crews to allow them to safely work on the car without danger of cutting into explosive cylinders etc. Seemingly this was becoming an issue nowadays given the numhers of airbags, pretensioners etc installed.
I think this is a fantastic idea and should perhaps become an industry standard. Mercedes are also producing this info for all models back to the 70s and supplying the code sticker through dealer network.
Its simple but a very useful idea.
any other obvious motoring uses for these codes?

Yea it would be great if my diagnostic unit could throw up a QR to tell me what code 117QX means:confused:

I've seen them on business cards, linking you to the person's website which is cool.
