By the way it's in Navan I passed my test and applied. my friends were in Dundalk, but I assume everything goes through rsa headquarters or some **** anyway

I applied in January in Waterford. I was stopped by the police and I showed him my receipt, he didn't hold much hope in having it any time soon. I have heard of people kicking up a stick and getting it within 3 weeks.

I submitted a licence renewal to Dublin City Motor Tax and had it back just over 3 weeks later. This was beginning of April.

I renewed my driving licence about a month ago and had my shiny new credit card type licence in 7, yes SEVEN days.

There is a thread on it in motors, and one in learning to drive.
The applications go through your local office, your waiting time will depend on their backlog. I went through Clondalkin, took me 5 weeks. Best thing to do is ring the office and they'll give you a good idea. I rang and asked cos I was frustrated waiting and they said roughly 5 weeks and they were spot on.
Other posters had similar experiences in different offices.

    Oh gosh really?
I'd definitely ring them! I applied on the 16th of April and had it four and a half weeks later.
Just about a week before I applied they put up a notice on the RSA website that there's a backlog, so most places were taking about two weeks longer to process applications. Considering you applied a good bit earlier than me, you probably should have had yours in two or three weeks!

They told me there is a 4 weeks wait today in Dublin.

These threads often serve as a gentle reminder to see if the drivers license is still in date!

That you legally need a drivers licence to drive on the roads?

Just wondering, is there a date by which my old driving licence will no longer be accepted? I got it just before the new ones came in, so it expires in just over 9 years :p

No, but when it expires in 9 years time you will have to replace it for the new one
